The global medical community witnessed a watershed moment from September 21-23, 2023, when São Paulo played host to the AAGL/MIGS International Congress. This gathering was not just an event, but a testament to the progress, dedication, and unity in the realm of minimally invasive gynecological surgery (MIGS).
With nearly 700 attendees spanning 23 out of Brazil’s 26 states and 11 countries, the Congress exuded an air of international collaboration and educational zeal. For those of us fortunate enough to be part of it, the significance was palpable.
One of the hallmarks of this Congress was its inclusivity and extensive reach. Six pre-congress courses, orchestrated with precision, ensured that every participant had an avenue to explore, learn, and contribute. The 83 expert speakers, drawn from diverse corners of the world, provided insights, shared pioneering techniques, and fostered a spirit of shared knowledge. It was a setting where novices could stand shoulder to shoulder with legends in the field, absorbing a wealth of knowledge.
However, the highlight for many was the live surgeries. A total of six surgeries, including two state-of-the-art robotic surgeries executed on different platforms, offered attendees a front-row seat to innovation and excellence in MIGS. To see theory translated into practice, with live commentary, is an experience that transcends traditional learning and instills both confidence and inspiration.
The feedback has been resounding: the event was a “huge success.” And this is not just a subjective reflection; it marks the AAGL/MIGS International Congress in São Paulo as the most significant international MIGS congress in Latin America in recent years. For many participants, this wasn’t just a congress; it was an embodiment of the advancements in MIGS, showcasing where the field is headed and setting new benchmarks.
Such a great event would not have been possible without the unwavering support of AAGL.
